Seyna's emerald eyes peered through the crowds, trying to get an idea on where she was. She placed her hand on the slit that was on her dress hip. Underneath it was a dagger. Of course, Seyna would never kill anyone unless it was vital to her life. But fingering the hilt made her nervousness cease. Crowds where not her thing, that was for certain. She slipped gently through the bodies, looking downward to hide her face. Men where known to be unfriendly to pretty women. That was part of the reason she wielded a weapon. Living in the forest was her life... City life was cramped, one had hardly enough room to breathe. This was one of the rare days where she had to buy a few things. Pulling her stone-hued cloak tighter around her shoulders, she pressed on. The mixed smells where sickening, fish, butchered meat, rotten vegtables and muddy water clung to the air. Her elven nose was sensitive to smells and this was beyond discusting. Looking up, she tried to remember where the one shop was...

Toryv walked and headed for the place he had heard there were always people the marketplace and when it came into view he slowed his progress. He saw so many moving bodies, then as he strode closer and had a clear view his jaw dropped and he froze in place, he had never seen so many. . . anything in his lifetime he wasn't even sure there were that many trees in the forest . . . in all the lands. After a long moment, possibly hours?, he regained his composure right they said it was a big city. He swallowed took a breath and slowly strode toward the many many many beings he saw. The air smelled so different, and Toryv was the most ill at ease he had ever been. He started looking all around him like a paranoid child, but there were no centaurs in site, and he realized that finding one here, even if there were 50, seemed impossible. He watched the streets as human after human passed, "well they were right about one thing it was a human city no plants, or other animals or anything just. . . " Then Toryv saw her the girl looking up, it was an elf, his heart lept and then his memories, he hadn't see an lf since he was the size of satyr. He laughed to himself. Then tried to remember why the centyrs and the elves weren't close anymore he strained and strained to remember, but nothing came to mind, but it had been a long time since his people had been friendly with the elves. but now he had found a creature of the woods, or so Toryv hoped, there would be nothing more disgusting than to find the elves had been lost to this city. He tried walking up to her and it was hard while keeping an eye on her as the people crowded by, but luckily she stood still searching. Then as Toryv finally got close enough he reached his hand out to touch her shoulder.

Seyna's sharp eyes looked past the faces, longing to be back in the forest where she belonged. The soft rustle of the wind among the trees, the trickle of water as it tumbled over rocks in the streambed, the sound of the creatures working out things among them. People can learn alot from the creatures and the forest. If only they would sit still enough to listen. The world would be a better place if they would listen to the forest. Take her little pet for instance. He was a white ferret-like animal who could talk to every animal. And she was the only one who could understand him. Her pet was perched on her left shoulder, hidden mostly by her hair. He, too, hated the people, and shrunk out of their sight whenever one appeared. Why he came with her was a mystery to her, but he knew and wouldn't tell. Can we leave now? he asked, chattering in his own language to her. Just then, Seyna felt a tap on her shoulder and spun around, her reactions quick and graceful. Part of her nearly drew her dagger, but she withstood the urge. The minute she saw who it was, a burly man pushed past her. "Get out of my way!" he grunted, shoving her into the centyr. She pulled back immidately, embarressed, although she didn't let it show. "Forgive me." she said softly, only accustomed to talking in a low tone of voice. His eyes looked kind. Seyna always judged beings by their eyes, as most elves tend to do.

There were still so many moving bodies and it made it impossible for him to concentrate. The next thing he realized is some comment he couldn't catch from a man as the elf was knocked into him and he caught her against his body. He really just wanted to pick her up and carry her into the woods, but he knew better than that, you just didn't pick people up and run with them at least not in his neck of the woods and probably not here in the city either. He saw her gaze into his eyes and his optimism came through that these elves were still forest folk. Realizing he hadn't planned what to do when he got to this point he tried to say something but not knowing what to say only fumbled sounds came from his mouth.
Toryv rather frustrated and embarrassed decided he couldn't handle the city any longer decided he was going getting out of this horrible crowd so he could breath and think straight, he halfway motioned for her to follow with the small amount of movement he could manage while constantly being knocked into. He then turned hoping she would follow because he was scared on how he was to accomplish anything if this is what human cities were. After taking a shallow breath he strided away from the humans and he was glad unlike the elf he was taller than them because otherwise he didn't think he would be able to breath at all.

Seyna stared at him for a moment, the realization he was a centyr, a forest creature, finally hit her. She caught the small 'follow-me' movement, but didn't move. Her mind devided, one side wanted to follow him out of this crowded pit and the other immidately refrained, no matter how nice he looked. What if he's an enemy in discuise? What if hes evil? Questions fluttered about in her mind like a bunch of butterflies. When he looked back at her, she sighed. I always have a weapon if he tries anything... she thought, following him uncertainly. Her pet chattered something to her, He's good. was all it said. And his judgement was usually right, so she picked up her pace and continued behind the centyr. She got poked and prodded by accident many a time while following him. She passed a dead cat and gritted her teeth. It had starved to death. She clenched her fists and pressed on. She was sick of the human ways. They knew nothing worth while. It was easy to follow her tall guide, even though they got a few weird looks. Since when did centyrs and elves get seen by men, together? She searched the depths of her mind, wondering why that was. Being so deep in thought, she nearly bumped into a cart that was pushed by a vendor. "Move!" he shouted at her. Humans didn't have any respect for the forest-beings... and manners couldn't hurt them any, either. She balled a fist and sent a swift punch into his nose and caught up to the centyr before the man knew what had happend.

oomph and the man gasped and Toryv turned his head to see some city folk doubling over, Toryv turned slightly farther to see the elf happily uninjured and he smiled and was excited that she followed. He began to feel incredibly stupid as he realized the true size of what he was doing and how clueless and thoughtless he had been leaving the grove. Trying to think quick on his toes but this time without the crowed in the background he took a deep breath and then began.
"Hello, I am Toryv, one of the centyrs. I'm not sure if our people are even known to you anymore, but we are an old race, and I came here hoping to learn what the human life was like, but I . . . I" and he stumbled with words for awhile. Then began again "I had never seen anything like this and I know where nothing else is? I'm not asking for any favors, but I thought you may be able to tell me something or atleast let me follow you to someplace else." Then looking up with pride he finished his introduction "I have come to remind people of Maedra" and return her to power. Smiling hoping this elf simliar to ancestors would have would be proud of his mission. Then realizing his mission realized if she knew who Maedra was she could be doing a similiar task to his own, and since he was supposelby the only one doing this she may have forgotten. So he shyly added "Maedra, the nature goddess"

ooc: please don't be offended at my charcters reactions... she has a mind of her own . I have nothing against you . Seyna followed him through the crowds and into the outer edges of the gathering where less people stood. Although there where still people crowded, it wasn't as bad as before. He face remained expressionless as she answered, "I am just as lost as you are, so I can't really help you..." Her manner was blunt and unsympathetic. Even though he was a forest being, she still distrusted him. The only things she didn't distrust where the forest animals. If he was soft, he would probably melt under her dark distrust. If he was ignorent or half-half, he'd ignore it. If he was hard he would turn around and slap her. Simple as that. Three catagories described people and human-like beings in one resounding swoop.
Her arms where folded across her chest and she looked at him a bit expectantly. Her eyes where sharp, almost seeing right through him. Her breath was light, and if you listened, you wouldn't hear it. It was an elf trait. Silent breath, sharp eyes, sharp ears and a sharp tounge. That was Seyna.
"I have never heard of Maedra." she said. Since she hardly went into the city, she knew nothing of gods and the like. Who needed them anyway? Life would go on with or without their interference. It always has.

Toryv almost smiled hearing she was lost; it meant the elves may not have been destroyed by this city. Then she continued and said she couldn't help, he was somewhat saddened, but was willing to wait to find someone else who could help him, but now would include elves in his search. Then she continued after her pause about not knowing who Maedra was and his heart fell, "if even the elves had forgotten . . . " he thought to himself. Taking a deep breath Toryv made his decision he would let her go, but properly thank her for giving up her time. "I thank you for your precious time friendly elf, and I'm sorry to have taken any of it." He then reached down to his waist where his pouch should have been hanging and realized it wasn't there, with a twinge of frustration across his face he wondered when it had fell off and cursed himself for inexcusable carelessness there shouldn't have been a way that it could just fall off, it didn't occur to Toryv that city folk would take anything they could easily get a hold of. Moving his hand from his waste to his thigh he slipped out a small staff that was the length of his knee to his hip. Then he presented the stick to her as his gift for her time. While being slightly frustrated to himself for having to give up something so valuable, but at least it was going to the forest folk, and then he wondered if she was just lost from another city, if she didn't know who Maedra was. So then he meekly asked "Are you, a forest elf?" with no intention of changing his gift with either response. He was secretly a little saddened to know his pretty friend would be leaving him, but he kept that to himself.

Seyna's eyes narrowed in curiousity as she watched Troyv look for something. What had he lost? Was it important? She looked about her feet for a secound, to see if he had dropped it near her. Nope. Nothing.
Her face softened visibly as he spoke and handed her a staff. She took it gently, running her slim hand down the length of it. "Thank you." she said softly, realizing it was important to him. "Why do you give this to me?" she asked in an even softer tone, the tone she used to lure forest animals into her arms. Her eyes had grown quieter... Not as fiery and ready to leap.
"Yes, I am." Yet again her voice was soft... almost melting. Seyna could easily use her voice to lure someone into a trap even if she wanted to. But she rarely wanted to. Humans she could do without. "And you are to, I can see it in your eyes." she said in a mystic tone. Somehow, she didn't want him to leave. He gave a bit of comfort in this ridiculously putrid place. But nothing showed on her face. Her green eyes suddenly twinkled mischiviously, as if she had some secret hidden inside her soul.
"Who is Maedra?" Her curiousity had arisen. Why had his countenence fallen so when she said she didn't know of her. Nobody had educated her in the area of gods. No one wanted to. Who would want to educate an 'illiterate' elf girl?

"For the time of yours I have taken from you" he answered and then paused realizing that as strange as this place was to him, his customs may be also be strange to her. "There is only so much life for each person and when we take away a moment of that life it should be marked if not repaid, and although this does not make up for your moment of time, it is a very useful tool."
Then when she said she was a forest elf, his face softened. He was ready to search again, but first he wanted to get something for the next person he met, but then she continued and proved herself a creature of the forest as she recognized him as one. Finally she asked the only question that could have brought such a great of a smile to his face.
He paused glad that his mission was on its way and it was the other forest dwellers who may join first.
"Maedra is . . . well was the old Goddess of the land, she was the most powerful of all the gods and she taught us to be friends with the plants and how to live with nature, she taught man as well, and we all lived well in the day that she kept nature well. Since the rise of the Solanos, the sun god she has lost her power and these cities . . . (Toryv paused finally realizing what a city was) have risen and they have harmed nature but Maedra has grown weak as the people forgot about her and much of what she taught and so many wildernesses died. Now we are at a critical time Solanos is losing power to violent gods that could cause wars and fights to break out killing many and Solanos is weakening and the people are calling out to many minor gods but if we could just return them to Maedra, then then she could once again guide us and protect us."

Seyna nodded, understanding the reason he had given her such a gift. She listened to his explaination about Maedra with a certain knowing look. Yes, she understood, said her look and the gentle nod. She didn't say anything about Maedra... yet.
"Well in my culture," she said, drawing out a pouch from her waistband, "We give the giver a gift." Her green eyes glistened with a spark of some unknown power as she handed him the little woven drawstring bag. Looking up at him again, she said quietly, "It is the petals of the iceflower. If you are sick, merely tasting one will cure you." Although this was the first gift she had given in a long time, she felt good about it. No regret showed in her eyes.
"And as for Maedra, is there a way I can help?" she truely wanted to have this goddess rule if she loved nature as much as Seyna did.

His opened his hand and received the bag thankfully. He quickly tied the top of the bag around one of the sticks in his sleeve, and let the bag slide down his wrist. When she asked if she wanted to help, he was at a loss of how she could help since she seemed as lost as he was. Uncertain as he was he decided to tell her the little he knew that she could do. "There are two options I clearly understand:
There is one you tell your friends and those you know about the goddess and we build support for her seperately but work for life as one and we depart two different lands.
Or there is the second option of we stay together and I would need a way to call you since I do not have a way to call you, and we would travel you could learn more of Maedra as we go and maybe separate later, or stay together to find a way to help her, which we could decide later."
ooc:i won't be able to be on much except for maybe once or twice a week if even that over the next 5 or 6 weeks so if you choose the 2nd option it may start really slow, plus I have no idea where to go and so sorry for leaving you all alone.
